If you want to achieve anything meaningful—whether it’s, improving your wellness, or creating a fulfilling lifestyle—you need to stop, reflect, and make sure your actions align with your goals.

And that’s where the magic of a self audit comes in.

What Is a Self Audit?

A self audit is a reflective process that helps you assess:

  • Where you are right now

  • What’s working well

  • What’s not aligned

  • What needs to change

I often do brand audit for companies (i check if every element of a website or application is aligned with the brand identity. Let’s say a company’s brand identity is all about security and trust — like a bank or a cybersecurity app. But then, on their website, you are seing a messagge with playful tone and emoji totally go against the brand’s identity) that’s the kind of misalignment!

The same thing can happen in life. If your actions don’t reflect your values, purpose, or goals—you're going to feel stuck or disconnected.

The 5-Step Personal Self Audit Method

Here’s a simple but powerful 5-step process to help you reflect, realign, and refocus every 3 months.

Step 1 - Set aside one full day at the end of each quarter (a quarter in business is a way to divide the year into four equal parts) :

  • Q1 (Quarter 1): January – March

  • Q2 (Quarter 2): April – June

  • Q3 (Quarter 3): July – September

  • Q4 (Quarter 4): October – December

Companies use quarters to:

  • Track progress

  • Plan goals and budgets

(When you are doing this its important to eliminate all distractions; no emails, calls, for that 1 day and choose a location away from your normal environment—a quiet library, a nature retreat, or a in a hotel in town).

Remember: you have to be in a new place = new thinking.

Step 2 - Review and reflect on your past 3 months, review your calendar and projects.

Step 3 - Think about your long term goals and ask yourself:

  • Are my daily actions aligned with that vision?

  • Do your daily actions match up?

  • If not, what needs to change? Identify what you need to STOP doing.

Step 4 - Plan your next 3 months.

Now that you have clarity, choose 3 to 5 priority projects that will move you closer to your goals.

Set goals in different life categories: health, career or business, lifestyle, relationship. Break each goal down into specific, actionable steps with deadlines.

Step 5 - Action, Action, Action!

Execution is everything. Block 1 hour at the end of each week to:

  • Review your progress

  • Adjust your plan if needed
