Use GPT like your personal assistant. I’m excited about it, not because it will replace us, but because it can support us. We humans still have capabilities that even the most sophisticated AI machines lack, things like common sense or theory of mind (the awareness that outside of yourself is another entity with its own agency, intentions, and goals).

This article is for non-tech people who want to get more done using ChatGPT in their personal or professional life. Here are three simple and powerful ways to make the most of it.

Create Tasks

Use ChatGPT as your personal assistant. Now you can create specific tasks and set reminders. Here is an example of a task i created for myself using ChatGPT:

Weekly News – every Friday at 2 PM

Task name: "News summary about AI & Product Design"

Prompt: “Search for the latest trusted and tested AI tools with a focus on the design industry, especially using authoritative sources like Figma’s official blog or similar websites. Highlight the most important developments, including any new tools, features, or major updates relevant to product and UX design.”

This type of request can save you hours and keep you updated with niche specific information.

Stay organized with projects

This feature provides a new workspace inside ChatGPT where you can keep everything for a larger task in one place. This is useful when working on something bigger like a report, writing a book or coding project.

Projects allow you to store all the files, chats, instructions, and tasks related to that specific topic. Within a project, you can have conversations, add specific instructions that the GPT will use for responses, and add different files that it can reference.

Custom GPT

Like creating your perfect employee, you can configure these custom GPTs by providing a name, description, specific instructions, and conversation starters. A powerful aspect is the ability to upload documents like PDFs, FAQs, or product manuals to contribute to the GPT's knowledge base, allowing you to ask questions specific to those materials.
